MAC: Dare to Wear Collection

I recently acquired two pieces from MAC's Dare to Wear Collection. I got the eyeshadow Louder Please and the lipglass Dare to Dare. I love the eyeshadow! Finally a hot pink that is perfectly matte! The eyeshadow is very versatile! I like to mix it with Texture Eyeshadow from MAC to add a more pizazz to the color :]. The color swatch I provided has Too Faced Shadow Insurance underneath it which helps hold the color better. You can buy Shadow Insurance through the Too Faced site or at your local Sephora. The lipglass is very different from one I've ever owned but it's pretty awesome! It it a sheer light pink gloss and has blue specks of glitter in it which is the part I LOVE. I like to use hot pink lip liner and use Dare to Dare over it. I really like both of these products :]
I recommend to buy some of the Dare to Wear collection if you can still find any. It nice to have some things in your makeup box that are a bit different from your everyday wear. More reviews to come soon!

BH Cosmetics Camouflage/Concealer Palette

About a month ago I purchased the Camouflage and Concealer Palette from BH Cosmetics. It was shipped very quick and packaged very securely with tons of bubble wrap and packing paper. I immediately swatched all the colors and was curious of their texture. These concealers are all very pigmented and thick. They provide FULL coverage and blend very well. You get a very good concealer for a low price. I also decided to use them to contour my face and loved the way it turned out. The second color on the bottom of this palette happens to match my skin PERFECTLY and that makes blending the colors in so much easier :]. I also use the lighter color to clean up my eyebrows.

The one thing I do not like about this palette is that some of the colors are a bit creamier then others. Some of the colors are so dry and can be a little difficult to blend. If I happen to use one of the colors that is a bit dry then I just give my face a quick spritz of MAC's Fix+ Spray and blend away.

Overall I would rate this product 8 out of 10. I would however recommend it to my friends. I have already recommended it to the owners of PhotoAFFAIR studio for the Hollywood Glam photo sessions they provide :] I suggest buying this palette if you have pesky blemishes you'd like to hide :]

I'll have another review soon. I just received another eyeshadow palette this week. :]

PhotoAFFAIR and Jessica S. Makeup Artistry

Recently I worked with PhotoAFFAIR photography and their client Christine Bilugan. Christine is involved in theater and was getting photos taken for a new head shot. She wanted to keep her look natural but enhance it just a bit. Here are a couple pictures from the shoot.

I will be doing more work with PhotoAFFAIR in the near future! :]

Wet n Wild Cosmetics Review

I purchased a handful of Wet n Wild cosmetics recently and have prepared a simple look and review on the products. I really enjoy buying drugstore makeup and seeing what I can incorporate into my makeup kit for everyday use on myself or future clients. I have found some very good items at drugstores/Target/Walmart and I always recommend them to friends and family. After all it doesn't hurt to save money, right?

List of Wet n Wild Items:

Ultimate Match Foundation SPF15 in Beige- This foundation is very sheer and works well if you're looking for a natural look. I set this foundation with MAC's Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in light/Medium. I would definitely recommend it to people who just need slight coverage.

ColorIcon Blush in Heather Silk- This blush is a very bright pink and was a little overwhelming at first but after I blended it out a bit with my powder it was good. It lasted pretty well throughout the day. Overall I'd give it an OK review because it is a bit difficult to blend out.

Silk Finish Lipstick in Retro Pink- I definitely love the color of this lipstick and it last pretty well through the day but I am not sold 100% on the texture of the lipstick. It has a nice gloss to it and good color pigmentation. If your looking for budget lipsticks and really don't wear them that often its a good buy.

Mega Liner in Black- I have already proclaimed my love for this eyeliner in a previous blog and I still stand by it. I love it! I love the brush applicator and the quality of the eyeliner. Definitely pick it up.

h2o Proof pencil Liner in Black Chrome- I don't like this eyeliner very much at all. It doesn't glide on well at all. It hurts to apply it to be honest. It's dry and crumbles.

Cover All Stick Concealer in Medium- The coverall stick was a bit oily but it did cover well. Its not my favorite concealer but its OK if you have minor blemishes. I probably won't ever use it again because I have other concealers I prefer.

ColorIcon Eyeshadow Trio in Walking on Eggshells- This eyeshadow trio applied very well and was easy to blend. The colors were a bit too shimmery for my liking but I know some people prefer shimmery. This trio comes in several different combination's and I'll probably buy another one in the future.

Mega Eyes Creme Eyeliner in Black- This is a pretty good substitute to the more expensive creme eyeliners that are on the market. I usually use MAC's Fluidline but occasionally I use this one instead. I use these creme liners to fill in my eyebrows as well as eyeliner. It applies smoothly and lasts all day. I recommend this for purchase!! :]

Mega Volume Mascara in Black- First off do not apply to the root as directed! When I applied the mascara to the roots my eyelashes went flat. I applied it another time just on the tips it darkened my lashes well and kept them curled.

Makeup Craving

No matter how much I buy one day I always want to buy more makeup. I'm anxious to try so many different brands. The one thing I definitely want to find is an amazing face primer for my oily skin. There are a few I've done some research on and I'm sure I'll try them when I can get the extra $$ together. :]

My next makeup review is going to be on Wet n Wild makeup. I hope after that I can do a review on Glamour Doll Eyes :]

BH Cosmetics 120 Color Eyeshadow Palette Review

I purchased a First Edition 120 color makeup palette from BH Cosmetics for $29.99 and I was highly satisfied with the product. It comes with a wide range of colors that are perfect for any occasion. You can use the colors for a simple look that you can wear to run your errands during the day, and you can achieve nice smoky eyes or a colorful look to wear for a night on the town. The palette was shipped very quickly and was covered in bubble wrap and enclosed in a sturdy box. Also, when you receive your package it comes with a card that has a code to receive a discount on your next purchase .. YAY!

The colors are very pigmented, blend well and apply very well with an eyeshadow base. I am a big fan of bright pinks but couldn’t really find one that I would consider perfect. This eyeshadow palette has the bright pink I’ve been looking for. The palette contains a very good mixture of greens, blues, oranges and yellows. The range of colors makes it easy for you to mix your colors incase there is a color you need to achieve that’s not on the pallet. Some of the colors can be used as blush, its always a plus when your eyeshadows can be used for multiple things. :]

I have done several different looks on myself from this palette and have been so satisfied with how well the colors stay on during the course of the day. Here are a couple looks I have done on myself recently .

Acne Fix!!

I have never had much of an acne problem up until recently! And personally I DO NOT LIKE IT. I never had to work at keeping my face clear so I never knew what were good cleansing products. After buying several different face washes and treatment creams (I guess) I've found the perfect combination of products for me!

Step One:
Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser

One night I was googling ( its a word ) best cleansers for oily skin and LUCKILY I stumbled upon this gem! I read several reviews stating that it was good for oily skin and that it wouldn't dry out problem areas. That's exactly what I was looking for! I love this cleanser. It removes the excess oil from my face without drying it out. It is a perfectly balanced cleanser. Target has an Up & Up product compared to this cleanser that is a bit cheaper but works just as well. :] I also use a facial exfoliator with this product to remove dead skin cells.

Step Two:
Clean and Clear Dual Action Moisturizer

I use this moisturizer mostly for the medicated aspect of it. It's just a little extra medicine to help fight pimples. You don't have to use it if you want to keep products to a minimum ALTHOUGH it does help the third product go on better.

Step Three:
Clean and Clear Persa-Gel 10 Maximum Strength

This product is what really completed my acne regimen! My friend Jocelyne recommended this product to me and I'm so glad she did! This product has 10% Benzoyl Peroxide with helps fight even the most stubborn pimples! Before this product I was breaking out all over my cheeks which was forcing me to pretend these were fake beauty marks :]! This product really cleared up my face. Downfall is this cream drys really quickly and leaves white streaks so I recommend using it on your face while the dual action moisturizer is still moist. I use the Target Up & Up brand of this product.

Step Four:
Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion

This lotion is good for all over body use! It doesn't make your face feel greasy or oily and works very well under makeup. :] I really recommend this product to everyone. Actually all Cetaphil products seem to work well and have great reviews by others not just me!

I hope you try out these products and they work well for you!

P.S. Target has every single one of these as a compared to product in their Up & Up brand. I really love Target.

My must have cosmetics in my purse!

I can never own enough makeup. I can buy makeup every single day of the week and never have enough :] However, I do have my go to products. The items that I turn to the most and 90% of the time carry in my purse/clutch. To me these products work for me no matter what time of the day it is or what season of the year.
Must Haves:

MAC Studio Fix Powder

This powder gives me full coverage and takes away my shine for at least 6 hrs straight. I have naturally oily skin and being from Southern California it is usually warm. This powder holds up pretty nice under these conditions. Its a pretty penny at $26 a pop but goes a long way. I apply my powder with a brush because it blends better and doesn't give the powder those dark patches that occur when you use a sponge and your oils build up. Yuck.

MAC Mineralize Blush- Love Joy
This is by far my all time favorite blush in. It costs $21 but its sooooo worth it! I love the pink tone in it and love the golden minerals in it and highlight my cheeks! It an awesome blush for summer with the golden specks. I adore this blush :]

Wet n Wild Mega Liner- Black
I love LOVE the applicator. I hate felt tip applicator. The picture looks like its felt tip but its an actual brush. It goes on very precise and lasts all day! The best part is it's under $5! That's a great bargain! Wet n Wild has some worthy products. I can only find their products at Kmart. If you can find this eyeliner BUY IT. My next choice would be the E.l.f liquid eyeliner at $1 but has a felt tip.

MAC Powerpoint Eye Pencil- Engraved
This pencil eyeliner is the absolute best. It says smudge proof and it means smudge proof! The thing I like most about this liner is you can put it on your waterline and it will last and won't smudge underneath your bottom lashes. Yay! Its not too badly priced for how well it works at $14.50.

MAC Lipstick in- Ruby Woo
If I could only own one red lipstick for the rest of my life it would definitely be Ruby Woo! It is a medium price range at $14. Its matte and lasts all day! The downside for most people is its a bit dry but I love it! The color is perfect and it lasts 8 hrs at work :]

MAC 129 SH Brush

This brush is a travel size and is perfect to use in case you need to touch up your blush or powder. It is definitely pricey at $34 but if you take care of your brushes they can last for years.

Burt's Beeswax Lipbalm

You always have to protect your lips to keep them soft and soothed. I love this chapstick. I use the original lipbalm with the peppermint oil added in it. I also like the pomegranate chapstick. It's priced good for the quality and the brand at about $3.

Well, there you go! I know kinda long but I really like these products! I hope this post will help some people out. :] I am tanned so the product colors might differ for some. But all in all I stand by these products and colors :]
